French Toast

This deliciously warm French toast is the easiest brunch dish that will please everyone. Sprinkle with icing sugar and garnish with delicious fresh fruit and some maple syrup.

Ingredients

a knob of butter
1 large brioche or milk bread, not sliced, which may be a day (or even 2) old
8 large eggs
240 ml full-fat milk
240 ml cream
65 grams granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
¼ tsp. ground cinnamon
a pinch of salt
a pinch of nutmeg

Step 1

Place a knob of butter in the slow cooker. Choose the Slow Cook LO setting and set the timer for 2.5 hours. Let the butter melt and then rub it on the surface of your slow cooker.  

Step 2

Cut the bread into thick slices and cut each slice into 4 pieces. Spread the bread across the slow cooker.

Step 3

Combine the eggs, milk, cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg in a mixing bowl. Pour over the bread and place the lid on the slow cooker.

Step 4

Serve hot or warm with icing sugar, maple syrup and fresh fruit.
